UNITED STATES- The Asian needle ant, a non-native species, has been found throughout the Eastern coast of the United States. It is potential treat to public health and native ecosystems, scientists said.
Reseachers at Clemson University find the insect to be a huge problem with people who are highly allergic to insect bites. Three documented cases of Asian needle ant bites caused people to go into anaphylactic shock, they said.
