JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — McCall Service announced that J. Bryan Cooksey Jr. was recognized as the 2020 American Values Dinner Honoree.
This annual event hosted by the Boy Scouts of America North Florida Council recognizes the contributions of significant people to the organization. This year, McCall Service's Chairman Emeritus, J Bryan Cooksey Jr. was honored with that recognition.
Cooksey's introduction to scouting started when he was asked to serve as Scout Master at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Arlington before assuming the role of River Bend District Chairman in 1984. The following year Cooksey received the highest honor that can be bestowed on a volunteer, the Silver Beaver Award, for his selfless service to the youth in his community.
In addition to Cooksey's longstanding volunteer service for the Boy Scouts of America, he served the local community in a variety of roles and organizations including President of the Rotary Club, President of the 4H Foundation and Chairman of the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair Association. It was for these reasons that the North Florida Council was proud to select Cooksey as the 2020 American Values Dinner Honoree. This year, the event raised over $260,000 in donations.
