Titled “Strategies for Success in a Changing Industry,” the courses centered around technological advances and current issues considered hot topics to the industry. Twelve continuing education classes were offered, which covered a variety of subjects from management strategies to advances in termite control. For example, Dr. Jerome Goddard, Mississippi Department of Health, discussed medical issues surrounding the disease brought on by pests, with a course titled “New and Future Health and Medical Problems Caused by Pests.”
These workshops pulled in pest control professionals from Texas and Oklahoma as well as from surrounding areas such as Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mexico and New Mexico. An exhibit hall with more than 15 manufacturer representatives provided a place for PMPs to network and learn more on recent technology available to their industry.
B&G said the workshops were attended by more than 1,200 pest management professionals and the company plans to offer these workshops next year.
