BURNSVILLE, Minn. - John Barcay, a longtime entomologist and industry researcher, passed away on Nov. 19, at age 59.
Barcay worked for Ecolab for 30 years and his most recent position was senior scientist, where he was responsible for research and development of products; customer training; and consultation on urban and industrial pest issues. He was also a highly regarded speaker at pest control industry events.
A native of Maryland, Barcay completed his understudies at Colorado State University and his post-graduate work at Purdue University, where he earned his Ph.D in urban and industrial entomology in 1990. He also worked as a service technician for Byron O'Reid & Son from 1982 to 1983.
A memorial celebration of Barcay's life is planned for late April, 2020. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: National Parks Conservation Association (777 6th St NW, Suite 700, Washington DC 20001) or Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Association (PO Box 16408, Minneapolis MN 55416).
