Oakland, Calif. — Maxforce Professional Insect Control recently developed a new gel bait for use against carpenter ants. The gel is formulated with proteins and sugars that resemble honeydew, a favorite food of carpenter ants, according to Maxforce.
Because of ingredients used to attract ants to the bait, the product must be stored at room temperature, so as to remain fresh and attractive to the ants. To ensure that the product is fresh, Maxforce will ship the product to purchasers via an overnight shipping service. This will protect against the possibility of the product “spoiling” by sitting in the cargo area of a truck, which during the summer can reach more than 100°F.
The new bait uses Maxforce’s exclusive Domino Effect, so that foraging workers deliver the bait to the entire colony, killing ants that may be hidden or out of reach. “Similar to the successful Roach Killer Gel Bait Gel we made available a few years ago, the Carpenter Ant Bait Gel was scientifically developed to resemble food that carpenter ants want,” said Gordon Morrison, national sales manager for Maxforce. Morrison said the product will also save time and labor costs, because technicians using the product don’t need to engage in labor-intensive activities like dusting and drilling.
Maxforce also announced the formation of three other product offerings: (1) a Fast Control (FC) Roach Gel, featuring the new active ingredient Fipronil; (2) a new 25-pound bucket of its Granular Insect Bait and (3) the new Fine Granule Insect Bait, for smaller ant species. According to Maxforce, the fine granule product makes it easier for smaller ants to carry the bait into tight and narrow galleries.
