“The calibration trays will help TopChoice applicators deliver long-term, cost-effective control of fire ants,” says Gordon Morrison, Maxforce Business Manager for Bayer Environmental Science. “And because fall is typically a time when business slows, fall fire ant treatments are a good way to help generate more revenue.”
“A common misconception about fire ants is that they are only active in the spring and summer,” adds Bryan Gooch, marketing manager, Insecticides, Bayer Environmental Science. “Most people assume that fire ants are less active in cooler weather, but they actually come to the surface when the hot summer temperatures drop.”
The Top Choice calibration trays are easy to use and should be placed on both sides of the spreading path. In a properly calibrated spreader, the product will exactly fill the corner pocket of the trays. If it doesn’t, adjust the spreader setting accordingly. Remember that commonly used rotary spreaders normally apply fewer granules at the outskirts of the spreader path. The calibration trays will help determine the amount applied in this area as well, enabling you to determine the correct overlap of the spread pattern required to obtain proper coverage.
