An article in the Wall Street Journal examines how the growing bed bug problem is opening opportunities. The article notes that the growing infestation seems to be keeping the entire city employed. Tenant lawyers are suing landlords. Junk haulers are clearing out rubbish. The pests are even driving patients to therapists' couches: Steven Brodsky, a Manhattan psychologist specializing in OCD and panic disorders, says the bugs are often the wake-up call that prompts a die-hard hoarder to seek his help.
Of course, pest control companies also are benefitting. Robert Young, division services manager for Terminix, was interviewed for the article and he noted that the company's NYC bed bug business has been increasing 30% a year. Click here to read the entire article.
