Bed Moat Enhanced with Secured Zone

The Bed Moat, a bed bug monitor sold in North America and Europe, has added a special black tape it refers to as Secured Zone. Square by design, it is strong in corners but discreet in height. According to the company, research shows that bed bugs prefer dark areas so the black edge assists bed bug monitors in attracting bed bugs while keeping ease of inspection with a bright interior.  

David Smorenburg, one of the owners of the Bed Moat Inc., claims the black and brown colors were originally introduced to the hospitality industry to keep monitoring discreet. Sandy Costa, also of The Bed Moat Inc., suggests this theory may not be too out of touch with reality as bed bugs do like to hide after feeding so a darker location seems a logical destination.

The Bed Moat bed bug monitor with Secured Zone will be introduced at the National Pest Management Associations Bed Bug Forum, being held in Garden Grove, Calif., from May 2-4, 2012.  The company says it will start shipping initial orders by the end of May.
