ALPHARETTA, Ga. – A recent merger of two companies in the southern U.S. combines two large distribution networks for horticulture-related products. The merger of McGinnis Farms, Inc., Alpharetta, Ga., and Jenco Wholesale Nurseries, Inc., Carrollton, Texas, creates a combined network consisting of 29 locations in nine states throughout the southeastern and southwestern U.S.
Stanley Walker will serve as president and CEO of the merged companies. Walker founded McGinnis Farms in 1987. The company is a distributor of horticultural-related products, including ornamental nursery stock, landscape supplies and irrigation products. McGinnis Farms meets the needs of the horticultural, landscaping and irrigation markets through its full-service centers.
Founded as a family-owned nursery in 1967, Jenco was formerly owned by Amfac, Inc. and Tri-West during most of the 1980s. The existing management team later bought the company in 1989. Jenco is a large horticultural distributor in the southwestern U.S.
According to a statement by McGinnis Farms, the two companies will continue to operate under their respective trade names for now with headquarters located in Alpharetta, Ga.
