Bell Laboratories Introduces New Final Blox in New Zealand

Madison, Wis. — Bell Laboratories welcomed in 2006 in New Zealand by introducing Final Blox, a rat and mouse bait containing the active ingredient brodifacoum. Final Blox is now the strongest single-feeding anticoagulant on the New Zealand market and the only bait approved for use along perimeter fencing outdoors, the company reports.

"We now offer the broadest line of rodenticides in New Zealand," said Bell's regional manager for Australia & New Zealand, Melissa Cameron. "With the addition of Final, pest controllers can now choose from a complete range of anticoagulants." Other Bell rodenticides in New Zealand include Contrac with bromadiolone and Ditrac with diphacinone.

First introduced in the U.S. in 1997, Final gets fast, effective clean-out of rodent infestations, especially persistent mouse infestations. It is formulated with more than 16 human food-grade ingredients and low wax to yield a highly flavorful and weatherable bait that competes well against other food sources, according to Bell Labs.

Final's distinctive cog-like shape gives rodents multiple edges to gnaw. A center hole lets pest management professionals secure the Blox on bait securing rods inside Bell's Protecta tamper-resistant Bait Stations. The Blox can also be wired or nailed in tight baiting places.

While the U.S. bait is dyed red, Final Blox in New Zealand is a grey-green color to comply with bait regulations. "In New Zealand baits used to contain a raspberry extract that gave them a red color. Birds were attracted to the flavoring, however, so red baits were banned," said Cameron. "Now we have only green or blue baits."

Final Blox is packaged in 1.8- and 8-kg resealable pails that maintain freshness and prevent odor contamination in service vehicles and storage.
