MADISON, Wis. — Bell Laboratories' newly revised Rodent Pest Management (RPM) booklet gives Pest Management Professionals (PMPs) practical tips on rodent control based on both scientific research and field experience.

The 16-page publication, launched at the recent 2005 National Pest Management Conference in Nashville, covers six major rodent control topics: rodent biology, inspection, harborage reduction & rodent proofing, proper bait selection, baiting strategies and non-toxic baiting methods.  Illustrated with colorful photos and pull-out key points, each section covers basic scientific information, with tips and practical advice gleaned from Bell’s field staff.  The booklet features stair-step pages with color-coded section titles for locating information quickly.

Whether you’re new to rodent control or are a seasoned professional, there’s something for everyone in this new version, according to Bell's Director of Corporate Sales & Marketing, John Schwerin. The publication addresses control techniques to knockdown and clean out  infestations in new accounts, reduce or eliminate infestations in existing accounts and maintain control to prevent infestations or keep rodents in check. Suggestions are given for selecting the right bait form and active ingredient, as well as baiting the three lines of defense: the perimeter of the property, exterior baiting and interior baiting.  There are also practical suggestions for using mechanical traps and glue products to their full advantage.

Copies of the RPM booklet are available from local Bell distributors.
