ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Bingham's Professional Pest Management is growing again. With the purchase of two local pest control companies, Bingham's continues to grow market share and remain the dominant independent pest control company in the Tampa Bay Area.

Earlier this month, Bingham’s finalized the purchase of Sun Pest Control, a company that has served St. Petersburg for over 37 years. Third-generation co-owner Bob Bingham says the family and crew take pride that they have served the Tampa Bay Area for over 60 years. “The connection we have with our customers is derived from the fact that they are our neighbors. We know that connection is harder to find these days with local, family-owned businesses of all types being bought or muscled out by large national companies.” Co-owner and cousin Brian Hawkins adds, “When we heard that Sun Pest Control was for sale, we wanted to make sure their customers could still get personal attention.”

Operating on the same wholesome values as Bingham’s, Sun is a small, local pest control company that strove to deliver excellent service while building personal relationships with its clientele. “I’ve made friends with many of my customers along the way, so the thought of leaving them in the hands of a company like Bingham’s made me feel much more at ease about my retirement,” remarks previous Sun owner Richard Kerns. “Finding a family-run business like mine that I can trust to hand-off my customers to gives me a good feeling.”

The purchase of Sun by Bingham's is just one of the acquisitions Bingham's has made this month. As the pest control industry continues to evolve with improved products and techniques, growing a customer base and keeping up with the national companies becomes more challenging. “We strive to provide the most ecologically efficient means to manage pests for homeowners and business owners. We know the products that work best in the towns and neighborhoods we serve,” states Brian Hawkins.

With eyes to the future, Bingham’s looks brightly at the new opportunities to expand on Sun’s legacy. Bob Bingham says, “We have been lucky to find companies with similar clientele that we can service along with our existing customers. We are always looking for ways to keep our crews busy so we can expand our team.”
