Vogt will be responsible for all technical field training and quality assurance. Additionally he will oversee the Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program (PESP), wherein Black Pest has entered into a partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reduce pesticide impact on our environment.
Vogt received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 from Tusculum College, in Greeneville, Tenn. He went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in entomology at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he studied insect populations in tall fescue pasture.
His career took a turn toward applied urban entomology when he began working on a doctor of philosophy degree at Auburn University under the guidance of noted urban entomologist Dr. Arthur Appel. Vogt went on to complete a postdoctoral assignment in the Department of Entomology and plant Pathology at Oklahoma State University, as Fire Ant Research and Extension Specialist. In 2001, Vogt began working as a Research Entomologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Mississippi, eventually being assigned duties as Lead Scientist for imported fire ant research at the National Biological Control Laboratory in Stoneville, Miss.
Vogt is a Board Certified Entomologist who has published scientific articles on topics ranging from energetic expenditure of ants during flight to alternative control measures using essential plant oils.
In his new role, he will be responsible for keeping Black Pest Prevention’s technical specialists abreast of the latest developments in urban pest management, developing effective IPM programs, and maintaining the company’s commitment to excellence in customer service.
