Dave Simpson’s latest creation “The Widow Project” is his largest project ever at Innovative Pest Management, the Lincoln County (N.C.) Times reports.
Simpson, owner of Simpson Dockworks and ArtbySimpson.com, has been working on “The Widow Project” since August.
The black widow spider sculpture will be displayed in front of Innovative Pest Management, which is owned by Ronnie Caldwell, and his wife, Rhonda.
“Here we are in the midst of a recession and everybody is breathing doom and gloom,” Caldwell said.
“But there is some excitement in this town. This is something positive that is being done by a local artist.”
The sculpture has been in the works for a couple of years, but it wasn’t until recently that Simpson and Caldwell worked out the logistics and details to really bring the idea to life.
“This is going to be the biggest piece of art in Denver and for sure, in this whole area,” Simpson said.
