Robert Kunst of Fischer Environmental Services was reappointed to another four-year term on the Louisiana Structural Pest Control Commission by the newly elected Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain.
Kunst was originally appointed under Democratic Governor Blanco and Democratic Commissioner Bob Odom. “I was very pleased to be reappointed under a completely new administration with a different party affiliation,” Kunst said.
The Structural Pest Control Commission regulates the pest control industry in Louisiana by holding hearings and assessing punishments for pest control operators who violate the law and rules and regulations. It also approves pesticides label and labeling, making rules and regulations for the industry to operate, and holding meetings for citizen input.
“I feel it is a great honor to be reappointed to the commission for another term,” Kunst said.
In order to be considered for an appointment a candidate must first have his name selected by a vote of all the operators in the state and in a four-way race, Kunst came in first with 62 percent of the vote. Then this list of candidates is given to Commissioner to review for the suggested appointment.
“Bob Kunst’s input is invaluable to me in this area,” said Mike Strain, agriculture commissioner.
