ORLAMDO, Fla. — As part of the awards presentation prior to Thursday’s PestWorld general session, Tim Brock, owner and president of Brock Lawn and Pest Control, was announced as the winner of the third annual Young Entrepreneur Award, presented by the NPMA and Rentokil.
Brock is a third-generation pest management professional who entered the business full-time in 2000 and purchased the company from his father in 2007.
Rentokil North America President John Myers, who presented the award to Brock, noted, “Since entering the business the company has seen growth nearly every year. Overall growth has almost quadrupled in that time frame and 2014 revenues will top four million dollars. In addition to increasing revenues, the company has also seen improved employee retention and advancement, community outreach, and sales and marketing efforts.”
In addition to running the business, Brock is an active NPMA member and is actively involved in his community, establishing several 5K fundraising events and serving as a soccer, basketball and baseball coach and referee.
In accepting the award Brock said, “Thank you to my mom and dad for giving me a shot to run our business. I am very proud of our industry, from where we started to where we are now. Thank you to my friends and mentors in this industry. What an honor it is to accept this in my award in my home state.”
The NPMA Young Entrepreneur Award was established to recognize young entrepreneurs working in the professional pest management industry who have helped create or develop an industry, business, or have stewarded a meaningful industry concept to fruition. A team of NPMA experts judged the nominees on the contributions made to both their company, as well as their contributions to the pest management industry overall. Additionally, nominees were judged on their community involvement and their demonstration of personal leadership.
