Brooklyn Company Earns Green Shield Certification

Best @ Pest Exterminating achieved the certification from the IPM Institute of North America.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Best @ Pest Exterminating, Brooklyn, N.Y., achieved Green Shield Certified status for its low-risk pest management. The IPM Institute of North America evaluated the company for its sustainable pest control practices according to Green Shield Certified standards. Best @ Pest is the 24th pest management provider serving New York to achieve the certification.

Fida Abbas founded Best @ Pest in 2012 and implemented the Best @ Pest Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program in 2016. His goal was to locate and eliminate resources that attract pests and use chemicals only if absolutely needed.

“As a father and pet owner, I wouldn’t want my family exposed to unnecessary chemicals,” said Abbas, president of Best @ Pest. “Plus, IPM yields less pesticide resistance, a safer environment, less liabilities and better pest control methods such as exclusion and sanitation.”

Best @ Pest strives to spread awareness of the effectiveness of IPM and increase adoption of IPM practices, he said.

Green Shield Certified is based on the principles of IPM, a low-risk approach to pest control that addresses the sources of pest problems through practical methods. IPM practitioners search out where pests are hiding and what is feeding them and seek to remove these sources while monitoring pest levels and communicating with building occupants about behaviors that may allow the pests to thrive.
