The directions-for-use – described by BASF as a PerimeterPLUS treatment – provide a new option for effective post-construction control of subterranean termites, with a labeled application that is significantly less invasive to a structure. Termidor is the only liquid termiticide to receive U.S. EPA approval of EP/LIT directions-for-use.
With the addition of California, the Termidor PerimeterPLUS use-directions have been approved in 46 states. BASF will continue working with state officials to gain approval in the states of Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi (Termidor is currently not registered for use in the state of New York).
BASF reports it has encountered few problems achieving state approvals. “Very few states have notified BASF with any concerns or issues with the amended Termidor label,” says John McCauley, BASF Professional Pest Control’s Government Relations Representative. “With the approval of PerimeterPLUS in California, we’re now left to focus our efforts on working with state officials in Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi – three key termite states – to ensure Partners in those areas have access to this effective, less-invasive treatment option.”
Having been granted label approval in California, BASF will continue its efforts to train current and new Termidor Partners on the PerimeterPLUS directions-for-use. Comments Karl J. Kisner, Senior Marketing Manager, BASF Professional Pest Control, “Ensuring that pest control professionals are educated on the details and complexities of the PerimeterPLUS directions-for-use is the best way we can guarantee its future effectiveness and viability.”
Beginning in June, BASF’s experienced sales and technical team will be offering face-to-face PerimeterPLUS training to Termidor Partners in California. Partners should contact their local sales representative for more information on local training, or visit www.PestControlFacts.com to view a schedule of regional PerimeterPLUS training sessions. Termidor Partners can also access PerimeterPLUS training online, as well as sign-up for the BASF e-Update Program to receive the latest approval and regional training information via e-mail. Termidor Partners in California have until December 31, 2005 to complete Termidor PerimeterPLUS training.
