BRANDON, Manitoba, Canada — Brandon may soon be the first community in the Candanian province of Manitoba to put restrictions on residential pesticide use.
At the end of the month, a group of environmentalists, city officials and the local lawn care industry plan to present council with a draft bylaw limiting the use of pesticides. While the bylaw wouldn’t ban pesticides outright, it would restrict their application in public areas and around people allergic to the chemicals in lawn-care products.
