MONROE, N.C. – Carolina Pest Management, founded in 1939 by Rev. E. David Dodd, Sr., celebrates 70 years in business this month. Originally located in Fuquay Springs, N.C., the company has been headquartered in Monroe since 1951 and has been a leader in pest management in North Carolina. Kristin Dodd, current president of Carolina Pest states, “We are very excited to celebrate this milestone anniversary with the community and our employees. This wouldn’t be possible without our loyal customers in the community, some of which we have serviced for over 50 years.”
When founded in 1939, Carolina Chemical was a small company, maintaining only one technician. When relocating to Monroe in 1951, David Dodd, Jr. assumed full time management responsibilities. The company changed its name to Carolina Termite and Pest Control in 1982 in order to reflect changing technologies that are less dependent upon chemical methodologies in pest control. David Dodd, III succeeded his father and now serves as CEO, with his daughters Kristin and Sarah Dodd serving as president and office manager respectively, representing four generations of family management. David Craig currently serves as general manager, with 24 years with the company, and Phillip Parker serves as manager of the termite department, with 21 years with the company.
In 1999, the company changed its name to the current Carolina Pest Management to once again represent changes in the industry. In 2003, Carolina Pest opened its first branch office in Rockingham, N.C., which currently operates as Carolina Sandhills Pest Management.
“We are proud of the confidence over 21,000 customers have shown in allowing us to protect so many homes and businesses over the years,” says David Dodd, III.
Carolina Pest Management is an active member of the National Pest Management Association, the N.C. Pest Management Association, the Better Business Bureau, as well as several local Chambers of Commerce. The company is also a proud member of PestOne, a network of some of the top independent pest management companies in the United States. In 2007, Carolina Pest earned the distinguished Quality Pro designation, which recognizes excellence in the pest management industry.
