Coastal Mosquito Offers Mosquito Control Training for PCOs

HOUSTON - To reach PCOs in areas faced with increased mosquito pressure as a result of Hurricane Katrina, Coastal Mosquito Control is taking its Mosquito Management Training Program on the road. Coastal is the manufacturer of the CoastalMister Mosquito Misting System, which forms the centerpiece of a mosquito control program that also involves homeowner education, site surveys, harborage reduction and use of larvicides and adulticides.

"In the past, we have required PCOs to travel to Houston for the two days of training. While that has allowed many PCOs to offer a working solution to mosquitoes, this hurricane season has caused unprecedented mosquito pressure and all PCOs need to get involved in mosquito management efforts for their communities. By compressing our training into one day and going to the home states of those most severely impacted, we hope to visit with as many PCOs as possible and offer them a menu of choices that they can consider," says Randy Elkins, president of Coastal.

Bobby Jenkins, owner of ABC Pest and Lawn Services of Austin, Texas and a Coastal Distributor, echoes that sentiment, "Mosquitoes are a big problem and mosquito control is big business — not just for the government, but for PCOs as well."

Coastal's "Road Trip Training" begins Oct. 3 and will continue through the end of October. To learn when the Coastal team will be in your state, you can contact them at 281-759-8900 or at roadtrip@coastalmister.com.
