RAHWAY, N.J. — Prodigy Pest Control, Rahway, N.J., found a way to contribute to the Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts in a way all its own.

Prodigy provided pest control services at the Delaney Apartments, a previously vacated complex in Perth Amboy, N.J., that was renovated in order to accommodate 100 families that were displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Prodigy technicians Angel Rolon and Gregrory Vazquez, along with Prodigy Owner/President Abraham Rolon, treated 76 of the 100 units on the property (others could not be serviced because they were in the process of being painted). Cockroach infestations were the biggest problems in these units, according to Abraham Rolon.

Abraham Rolon spearheaded this relief effort after learning that his church, Faith Fellowship Ministries, Sayreville N.J., would be donating clothing, furniture and cash to this project. Rolon then got in touch with Stephen Jobin, director of human resources at the Perth Amboy, N.J., Delaney Apartments, who helped Prodigy coordinate its pest services.

Abraham Rolon reports that, as of press time, about 30 families had already moved into the Perth Amboy, N.J., Delaney Apartments. Rolon added that Bayer and Maxforce donated products and that Bell had offered to help, but that the complex did not have rodent problems.
