NORTH KANSAS CITY, MO.--When Rockwell Labs relocated to North Kansas City, Mo., in November 2004, the company had a new place to call home. Now, with new equipment and a bigger facility, Rockwell Labs has new products to call its own, too.

After deciding on North Kansas City and passing on cities like Nashville, Tenn., Lexington, Ky., and Austin, Texas, Cisse Spragins, CEO and founder of Rockwell Labs, said the choice seemed to make a perfect fit as location and population played a key role in the decision.

“This is the perfect place to be,” Spragins said of the new location. “It’s surrounded by Kansas City, Mo.; it’s all industrial. Plus, there are a lot of services that if you need it, we’re in an industrial business.”

After moving to a more southern locale to suit their customer’s needs, Spragins said Rockwell Labs’ six employees would be able to concentrate more on their customers’ wants because their biggest market is located in Florida.

The move to what Spragins called a more “business-friendly state” allowed for the construction of a new 20,000 square foot facility to finish. After moving to a building that was nearly three times the size of their former place of business, Spragins and her employees were able to put in new equipment to redesign and refine the model of their BaitPlate Insect Bait Station.

Spragins explained how Rockwell Labs upgraded its new gel line equipment.

“We put in a lot of new equipment, and we’ve updated a lot of old equipment,” Spragins said. “We put in a new gel line and a new liquid line. We did a major upgrade to our granular line too.”
