WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. — Hundreds of pest management professionals from across the Southeast convened in Wrightsville Beach in July for the 2016 Carolinas/Mid-Atlantic Summer Conference.
Throughout the three-day event, professionals from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia attended classes concerning the latest research in pest management including sessions about the Zika virus and invasive ant species.
In addition, the North Carolina Pest Management Association (NCPMA) welcomed its new slate of executive officers for the 2016-17 year.
The new officers include President Dana McDuffie of McDuffie Pest Control in Elizabethtown; Vice President Donnie Shelton of Triangle Pest Control in Holly Springs; Secretary/Treasurer Bruce Roberts of A-1 Termite and Pest Control Inc. in Lenoir; and former President Lee Smith of Rid-A-Pest Inc. in Morehead City.
“For nearly 70 years, the North Carolina Pest Management Association has been the state’s voice for the pest management industry, and that is a responsibility that we do not take lightly,” said McDuffie. “As a board, we are excited for the possibilities that await us for this upcoming year, and we look forward to serving our members and our industry.”
McDuffie is a long-time board member who previously served as the association’s vice president for 2015-16, secretary/treasurer in 2014-15 and has chaired the association’s technician of the year committee for five years.
The officers will serve a one-year term ending July 2017. Each of the executive officers has served previous terms on the board of directors and has been active in board committees.
