LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — World renowned bed bug expert and vice president of Cooper Pest Solutions, Dr. Richard Cooper, was selected to host an educational webinar with The University of Georgia's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
Cooper will participate in the two-hour long webinar entitled “Getting the Best of Pests” on Feb. 17. He is expected to speak about his groundbreaking research findings from Rutgers University on his Ph.D dissertation entitled “Behavioral ecology and control of bed bugs, Cimex lectularius L., in multifamily housing communities.”
Dr. Dan Suiter, professor of entomology at the University of Georgia, said that selecting Cooper was a no-brainer.
“I've known Rick for 25 years,” Suiter said. “I believe Rick is one of the five go-to people in the U.S. on all issues involving bed bugs.”
With over 20 years of experience in entomology and the pest control industry, Cooper brings a very distinctive outlook to the table when discussing the current state of the pest management industry.
“He has a unique experience in that he is both a Ph.D. research academic and a pest management professional,” Suiter said. “I can only think of a handful of people with that worldview. Rick can speak the language of academics and knows what's important to frontline technicians. That's rare.”
In addition to Cooper, the webinar will include Dr. Karen Vail, professor of urban entomology in the Department of Entomology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Vail is expected to speak about “Ant Identification and Why It’s Important.”
Applicants can register for the webinar through The University of Georgia's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences website.
