Rose Pest Solutions
NORTHFIELD, Ill. – Rose, Pest Solutions announced Dr. Stan Cope, also affectionately known as "Captain Stan The Mosquito Man" has joined the company as director of technical services.
Cope will be working closely with employees in all Rose and Franklin Pest Solutions locations to provide staff education and training and streamline service methods.
Cope previously assisted as an educator for the company, conducting tech training seminars on mosquitoes and other insects over the years. He even helped Rose’s former safety and training director to write the pest industry’s “mosquito bible.”
Cope served in the U.S. Navy as a medical entomologist for more than 23 years.
While in the Navy, Cope held a variety of assignments, including conducting operational and research entomology in 18 countries and ultimately serving as director of the Armed Forces Pest Management Board as well as director of pest management in Washington D.C. where he had oversight of all aspects of pest management for the Department of Defense.
“We are thrilled to have Stan on board. His service in the U.S. Navy helped keep our forces safe from pests, just like our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, did when he hired our founder, Solomon Rose, to keep soldiers in the Union Army safe from rats and lice in their tent camps during the Civil War,” said Rose Pest Solutions Owner Bob Dold. “Stan has made significant valuable contributions to the industry and has been a solid resource for Rose’s staff over the years in terms of training and education. Plus, he’s a familiar face so the fit seems natural. We are proud to have Stan on the Rose team.”
Cope joins the Rose team in the midst of a season rife with West Nile virus in the Midwest and reports of locally-acquired malaria for the first time in the U.S. in 20 years.
“I am honored to be joining a team so dedicated to helping keep people safe from pests,” Cope said. “It has been my professional mission and I plan to continue helping to educate our communities about our industry and help eradicate pests that threaten our health.”
Cope is a member of Pi Chi Omega, and in his free time, he enjoys family time, gardening, Civil War history, book collecting, sports and reading.
