CPCO of Georgia Fall Conference Recap

The association recognized Ensystex's Dan Hill with the Wayne Webber Award of Excellence at this year's event.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Certified Pest Control Operators of Georgia held its Fall Conference at the Edgar H. Wilson Convention Center in Macon, Ga., October 3-4.

Dr. Phil Koehler from the University of Florida kicked off the event with his talk on Pesticide Safety Nightmares. He did his entire presentation in a tee shirt with a cat imprinted on it, a gift Chairman of the Board, Marty Jones from Prestige Pest Control gave to him in the opening announcements. (Koehler, known for his distaste for felines, was a good sport.)

Wayne Webber, an instrumental founder of CPCO of GA, passed away earlier this year. The Board of Directors renamed the annual award given at the conference to be named the Wayne Webber Award of
Excellence. This award is given to someone that demonstrates integrity, helpfulness to the industry and

been a great support to CPCO of GA. This year’s recipient was Dan Hill from Ensystex. Dan worked with Wayne Webber and Bob Shelnutt at First Quality Exterminating prior to the birthing of CPCO of GA. Hill was a valued employee and became a great managerial asset for Mr. Webber in their company. When Wayne and Bob sold First Quality, Dan joined Ensystex in Sales. Dan kept close ties and began implementing statewide training events in cooperation with CPCO of GA in Georgia. For over 20 years Dan Hill has continued to show his support for CPCO of GA by providing training, being a financial sponsor and exhibitor at all Fall Conferences demonstrating a humble attitude of service and character while doing so. CPCO of GA is proud to announce the 2019 Wayne Webber of Excellence Award to Mr. Dan Hill.

The conference included a unique Manager’s Advancement Program (MAP) business track this year. The classes included topics on Marketing, Human Resources, Operations and Finance. This track was attended by 25 people representing over 20 companies. These decision-makers enjoyed a 1-hour speed dating event where participating vendors were able to have face-to-face time to talk to them about their services and products. Another bonus for this group, Commissioner Gary Black of the GA Department of Agriculture spoke about Leadership during their lunch hour.

Over 400 attendees and guests participated in the wide-range of course topics with CEU approvals from not only GA but also AL, FL, KY, MD, NC, SC, TN, VA. A huge thank you to all of the sponsors that supported this event including: BASF Corporation, Bayer, Bell Laboratories, Corteva Agriscience, Ensystex, Mattress Safe Inc, McGriff Insurance Services, Oldham Chemical Co Inc, Rid-A-Critter Inc, ServDay, Sullivan Sales & Marketing, Syngenta, Target Specialty Products and Univar Solutions.

CPCO of GA uses the Fall Conference as an opportunity to raise money for P.E.S.T. Relief International, their designated charity. This year there was a day of golf the day before the conference and an evening of bowling on the first night of the conference. Those who participated had SO much FUN! The total raised this year was nearly $3000. The goal is to continue to grow these events next year and have more participation in these exciting and fun ways to support P.E.S.T. Relief International. The Association has already scheduled next year’s Fall Conference at the Edgar H. Wilson Convention Center in Macon, GA for October 1 & 2, 2020 and encourages all to participate as an attendee, sponsor and/or exhibitor. For more information about CPCO of GA, go to www.cpcoofga.com
