TRAVERSE CITY, MicH. — Critter Control’s ‘Eco-Wise’ pest control division recently received a request from the New Hope Worship Center in Bunn, NC to help with their mission in Mexico to fight off Dengue fever.
Kim Denton of New Hope contacted Critter Control CEO Kevin Clark. Denton said, “One of our areas of service is in Aqua Escondita, Mexico. It is a small town just outside of Guadalajara. One of the diseases they battle there is Dengue fever. It is a very serious life threatening disease especially to the elderly, the pregnant, and the very young. About 50% of the church members we work with have Dengue fever. The people of this church are very poor people who live in houses that often have no roofs and rarely have closed windows. Most of the housing is exposed to the outside elements.
“Dengue fever, West Nile Virus and several types of encephalitis are serious illnesses transmitted by mosquitoes, and medical help is required for anyone who has been infected with any of these diseases.“
“Dengue fever is expanding rapidly in Mexico and Central America, and is slowly working its way into the southern U.S.,” notes Clark, who contacted MosquitoCurtains.com and arranged for 400 square yards of heavy-duty mosquito netting to be sent to the New Hope mission. He also contacted Jon Cohen at Summit Chemical to arrange for the donation of Mosquito Dunks and Mosquito Bits to treat mosquito breeding grounds around the village. The supplies will arrive next month, just in time for mosquito season and to help combat Dengue fever.
