TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - Critter Control CEO Kevin Clark volunteered to get up early on Labor Day to fly the Stanley Cup from Detroit to Traverse City, Michigan to Detroit Red Wing hockey star Dallas Drake.
Clark and Drake are neighbors and they occasionally play drop-in hockey together during the summer, although Clark notes that Drake has traded in his old blades for goalie skates nowadays.
Drake, now retired, coaches youth hockey for the Grand Traverse Hockey Association. The GTHA raised approximately $40,000 on Labor Day by taking donations for pictures with the Cup and autographs from Drake. Proceeds will be used to assist youngsters who may not otherwise have been able to afford to play hockey. “Dallas is a real contributor in our community,” said Clark, “and we were honored to assist his efforts in our home town.”
