MIAMI — It’s a question that crosses the mind of every PCO, or every business owner, for that matter: “What new and different marketing approaches can I add to my arsenal?”

George Garcia, owner of Miami-based A New World Pest Control, looked no further than his company’s five service vehicles for the answer.

“Our service vehicles were very plain – we just had vinyl-type lettering,” Garcia said. “Your trucks are on the road all day so this is a good way to spread your message.”

What Garcia envisioned was a service fleet featuring creative, eye-catching designs that would create a community-wide buzz. Garcia sat down with renowned vehicle spray painter specialist Frank Oliver of Phat Auto Wraps and the two created several eye-popping designs.

A New World's Chevy HHR service vehicles now feature artwork consisting of termites eating apart the “inner-skeleton of a car,” while the company’s Ford F-150 trucks are decked out with webbing in which various insects, including robot-like spiders and cockroaches, have been captured.

Garcia couldn’t be happier with the response he’s received. “I’ll be filling them up at a gas station and people will give me the ‘thumbs up.’ When I’m servicing an account and the cars are parked in the driveway neighbors will stop and look and also learn about our company,” he said.

And A New World’s service vehicles are well-equipped on the inside, with computer equipment and vehicle navigations systems. This presents the company with additional opportunities to leave an impression on potential customers.

Additionally, Garcia said the trucks have helped him raise his company’s community-wide profile. For example, he has been asked to speak at schools for career, and he says that upon his arrival he is received “like the ice cream man.”

A New World Pest Control has grown steadily since Garcia became licensed and opened the business in 2001. He currently employees six service technicians and about 70 percent of his business is commercial, with a heavy concentration in termite work.
