CLEVELAND – Despite a somewhat turbulent start to 2025, half (50%) of those who responded to PCT’s recent reader poll reported no change in their 2025 growth outlook.
Sixteen percent have scaled back expectations and 18% expressed increased optimism. Another 16% are still assessing conditions before making a decision.
Rob and Jen Jackson of Jackson Pest Management, Leo, Ind., have adopted a cautiously conservative approach to their 2025 growth outlook. While they acknowledge mixed economic signals and customer turnover, they remain financially stable and debt-free, which allows them to weather downturns without drastic measures.
“We had a down year previously and expected another dip, but early 2025 results are showing improvement,” said Jen Jackson, the company’s general manager, who added that the company is avoiding unnecessary expenditures and continuing a conservative financial strategy, emphasizing savings and flexibility.
Rob Jackson added that by being a small, debt-free company that avoids risky investments and focuses on “purchasing confidence,” Jackson Pest Management is able to weather turbulent times.
Get Goins Pest Control, Los Angeles, Calif., has expanded cash flow opportunities in 2025 by diversifying income streams, particularly through the digital space. Co-owners Rian and Noelle Goins recognized the increasing demand for professionals to showcase both their work and lifestyle online, so the couple have built a financial model around that visibility.
"We’ve partnered with brands that now pay us to represent their products, which not only generates revenue but also provides free marketing exposure as customers search us on Google and across social media platforms," Rian said.
The Goins also have found new sources of revenue in doing paid termite and pest inspections in the construction space.
"When those inspections lead to approved work, we credit the inspection fee—creating a smart, sustainable inspection-to-service pipeline that drives consistent cash flow," Rian said.
As a small business in San Jose, Calif., Go For It Pest Solutions owner Sway Campos has to stay flexible and resilient in the face of change. Campos said the beginning of the year brought unexpected hurdles that momentarily shifted the company's focus, but said he remains committed to the vision they set out with.
"While the economic climate and evolving regulations in California have certainly posed challenges, our goals haven’t disappeared—they’ve simply adapted," Campos said. "We’re continuing to push forward, stay nimble, and do what it takes to meet our 2025 growth targets."
