LYNCHBURG, Va. – Dodson Pest Control recently received the Pro Patria Award from the Department of Defense. The award is the highest state level honor given to a civilian employer by the department. It is presented to those employers who demonstrate exceptional support for our national defense by adopting personnel policies that make it easier for their employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve. The Latin phrase “Pro Patria” means “for the country.” The award symbolizes uncommon patriotism by an employer. Dodson Pest Control President and CEO, Bert Dodson, Jr. accepted the award at a ceremony in Richmond, Virginia.
Dodson Pest Control has several employees who have been called upon to serve in the U.S. Military in Iraq. They include Danny Miller with the Army 276 Engineer Co. of the Dodson Richmond, Virginia Office (Danny nominated Dodson Pest Control for the award consideration and has since become a full-time Staff Sargeant with the Virginia National Guard), Chad Ellinger with the Fourth Combat Engineer Batallion, U.S. Marine Corps (Chad is now medically retired from the Staunton, Virginia Office of Dodson Pest Control) and PFC Matt Parham with the ANG 113th Field Artillery (Matt is currently serving in Iraq and is employed at Dodson Pest Control’s Asheville, North Carolina Office).
