Don Rivard Recognized By Boston Public Health Commission

Don Rivard was recently recognized as a “Boston Hero at Home” by the Boston Public Health Commission.

Waltham, Mass. — Don Rivard, Rivard’s Resources: IPM, a pest management consulting firm, was recently recognized as a “Boston Hero at Home” by the Boston Public Health Commission.

The award was presented to Rivard by Barbara Ferrer, PhD, executive director of the Commission during a conference on “Getting the Bugs Out” where he was a speaker.  It was awarded for “contributions to improving the health and quality of life for Boston residents, particularly those with asthma.”

Rivard has provided pest management consulting and training to Boston’s Public Schools, Inspectional Services Department, Public Health Commission, Children’s Hospital, the Boston Housing Authority, the Boston Urban Asthma Coalition, Committee for Boston Public Housing and others.  The Boston Housing Authority has implemented Integrated Pest Management strategies and practices developed by Rivard to reduce pests and pesticides while empowering residents.

The Boston Housing Authority has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as a national leader in IPM implementation at its 65 properties.
