INDIANAPOLIS — Members of the Dow AgroSciences Pest Management research and development staff, along with university and other industry researchers, will be making five oral presentations at the Entomological Society of America’s (ESA) Annual Meeting, which is taking place this week at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The presentations highlight recent research on the Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System, focusing specifically on the efficacy of noviflumuron, the active ingredient in Recruit IV termite bait. Two studies in particular — one of which was conducted in cooperation with the University of Florida and the New Orleans Mosquito and Termite Control Board — highlight the performance of Recruit IV termite bait in a quarterly monitoring program. Dow AgroSciences reports that this information is especially important because of the new quarterly monitoring label recently accepted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The label will take effect Jan. 1, 2006.
“Dow AgroSciences has extensive research demonstrating the proven effectiveness of Recruit IV termite bait, both in Sentricon stations and Recruit AG above-ground stations,” says John Kalthoff, marketing manager for the Sentricon System. “The results of these quarterly monitoring studies will demonstrate to our Authorized Operators the benefits of this exciting label change, and what it can mean for their businesses.”
In addition, four display presentations on Recruit IV termite bait and noviflumuron will be available for review as well. One display presentation focuses on a case study demonstrating the effectiveness of the Sentricon System and a 90-day monitoring schedule on a condominium development in northern California. The study was conducted in cooperation with the University of California-Berkeley.
“Research and development is a big part of what drives the success of the Sentricon System and our portfolio of products,” adds Kalthoff. “We are committed to providing proven, reliable solutions to the marketplace that will help our customers grow their businesses.”
