DeMask, 37, has been a specialist handling the public relations and strategic counsel for pest control and building product manufacturers for the last several years. A former supervisor at a national public relations firm based in New York, DeMask oversaw the marketing of Syngenta’s IMPASSE Termite Blocker from about 2001 to 2005, which included overseeing the marketing through its pre-EUP stage to its EPA approval and for two years after it was registered and being sold commercially.
His experience managing the IMPASSE account included arranging to get the product installed with builders around the country during the EUP stage, developing technical trade articles, working with pest control and builder publications nationally, regionally and locally. In addition, he coordinated trade show registrations, hotels and media interviews, and targeting the pest control, builder and consumer audiences through public relations, sponsorships and partnerships.

“I have a broad-based marketing background that truly gives me the opportunity to work with companies, large and small, to develop sound marketing plans that act as roadmaps to success,” said DeMask. “My approach to working with a client is almost to act as a lawyer would but providing marketing counsel, so trade shows might be important to one client, grass-roots marketing to another and public relations to yet another. What’s most important is finding a company’s specific need and working with sales, technical and management overall to meet established goals.”
His trade show experience includes: The International Builders Show (IBS), Pest World, Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC), Southeast Builders Conference (SEBC), Coverings, National Roofing Contractor’s Association show (NRCA), Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (KBIS), Surfaces and the International Heating Air Conditioning and Refrigerating Show (AHR Expo). He has also attended, on behalf of clients, many pest control and builder-related technical conferences and meetings.
In addition to handling IMPASSE, DeMask has supported a variety of other building product manufacturers. He has managed the public relations for Masonite (doors), CraftMaster (doors, trim), and Dow Chemical’s building products (insulation) unit, and supported additional companies such as the former Tenneco Building Products (now Pactiv), Lucent Technologies, Urban Retail Properties and others.
DeMask is a member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE), Construction Writer’s Association (CWA) and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
