ALBANY, N.Y.— Ehrlich Pest Control in Albany has earned Green Shield Certification, the first provider in the area to achieve this third-party credential, and the fifteenth in the country. Customers in Albany, N.Y., and the surrounding area now have the option of choosing the new "Ehrlich Green Program" service, ensuring less toxic pest control, the company said. The credential is offered by the independent, non-profit IPM Institute of North America, which verifies company performance using an on-site evaluation that examines 63 separate aspects of the pest control service.
"One of the school systems we service had been fogging the school with insecticide every other week," according to Joe Holocheck, ACE, an Ehrlich technical trainer who has been with the company for 13 years. "We offered them alternatives, and they were very relieved to learn they didn't have to continue fogging."
"We hire technicians who are willing and able to work with the customer to solve the underlying problem - not just pull out the sprayer," says Holocheck.
Ehrlich uses inspection, monitoring and identification to determine the root cause of pest problems and find a solution. By carefully inspecting and sealing up gaps and holes in on the exterior of structures, pest complaints can be reduced by as much as 65 percent, said the company.
"Ehrlich passed an evaluation that included interviewing management and field staff, visiting customers and reviewing customer account records, inventory and vehicles," reports Dr. Thomas Green, entomologist and president of the independent IPM Institute of North America.
