CLEVELAND – In today’s challenging job recruiting environment, job boards have become an important tool for recruiting new employees. According to results from PCT’s most recent poll, 64 percent of those who responded to PCT’s recent poll said Indeed is their preferred job board, while 25 percent chose LinkedIn. Eight percent of respondents selected ZipRecruiter as their preferred job board while 3 percent chose Glassdoor.
"Indeed seems to have the most activity and candidates," said Eric Melass, president of Houston area-based Killum Pest Control.
Michael Broder, president of New York City-based BHB Pest Elimination, agreed, noting that Indeed works well for his company “especially since we are in a major market, we've consistently gotten great responses and number of applicants to choose from.” Broder said that LinkedIn has been helpful in connecting applicants for management and sales positions.
Julie Johnson, recruitment & development manager, Schendel Lawn & Landscape | Green Pest Solutions, Topeka, Kan., said she likes the Indeed platform because she can “adjust how long an ad runs and the flexibility in setting a budget for the ad.” Johnson added that Indeed has been more effective for administrative, customer service and sales positions. She said, “We do run ads for pest technicians as well as for technicians and crew members on the lawn side and receive decent response, but nothing like for ‘office’ positions. Referrals from our existing co-workers are most effective, but not always an option when we do need to hire.”
