Employee Turnover Rates Up

Thirty-nine percent of employers are reporting that the voluntary turnover rate at their company has increased from last year, according to a survey by Compensation Resources, Inc., a compensation and human resource consulting firm.

Among respondents, the average voluntary turnover rate was 14.3 percent for the twelve-month period ending March 31, 2006. Overall, 39 percent of employers said their voluntary turnover rate increased, and 36 percent of employers said it remained the same as compared with the prior 12-month period.

Among various employee groups, production level positions experienced the highest voluntary turnover rate among all employee groups surveyed. In 2006, the voluntary turnover rate among production employees was 17.5 percent, up from 7.5 percent in 2004, according to the survey respondents. For administrative employees, the voluntary turnover rate was 13.2 percent in 2006, up from 10.3 percent in 2004.
