MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Exponent Insecticide Synergist product from McLaughlin Gormley King Company (MGK) now comes in convenient pint bottles to help pest management professionals quickly raise the performance of their insecticides to a higher level.

Exponent, an emulsifiable concentrate synergist, is uniquely formulated to tank mix with pyrethroids, carbamates, abamectin insecticides and acaricides to improve the knockdown and kill rate of the insecticide. While it has no insecticidal properties of its own, it works by stopping enzyme breakdown of the insecticide’s active ingredient —which allows more active ingredient to reach target insects to improve the level of control and speed of kill.

Exponent has been shown to overcome insecticide resistance in many insect species such as chinch bugs, flies, bed bugs and mosquito populations, according to MGK. Exponent works by binding to an insect’s enzyme esterases to inhibit protective properties that detoxify insecticides. This reduces the insect’s natural ability to break down the insecticide active ingredient, which increases insect susceptibility to insecticides. It can be used in a tank mix with insecticides labeled for use in indoor food and non-food areas, in general outdoor premise treatment, in outdoor ornamental and lawn sprays, and in pet premise treatments.
