New York has approved the amended Fenvastar Plus label to allow aerosol void treatments for bed bugs as well as fogging applications in commercial areas.
Pest management professionals can use the Patriot, Actisol, Micro-Injector or the new B&G PAS as part of their bed bug treatment regimen. This application equipment allows users to penetrate deep into voids, drop ceilings, conduits to kill bed bugs and their eggs with Fenvastar Plus diluted in oil-based pyrethrins or a standard ULV diluent oil plus Gentrol.
From attending or sponsoring multiple bed bug seminars, LG Life Sciences had learned that bed bugs were behaving more like cockroaches in seeking harborage in tough to treat voids. Oil-based aerosol droplets can provide deep penetration. The oil dilution also provides a high level of safety around electrical outlets and switchboxes, LG Sciences reports. So LG amended the label for Fenvastar Plus to allow the deep harborage treatment for bed bugs, which also would include inaccessible spaces in structures and equipment, for example, cracks and crevices in boxsprings, hollow tube bed frames that can be found in bunk beds in barracks, dorms, camps and shelters.
Additionally the newly approved New York label allows for ULV ( fogging) of warehouses, storage rooms, food production plants or other commercial sites for a wide variety of target pests including roaches, stored product pests and flies. Fenvastar Plus can be fogged after dilution in oil or oilbased pyrethrins as a tank mix.
“The marketplace has been hearing that pyrethrins are and will continue to be in short supply,” said Patrick Callahan, national sales and marketing manager, LG Life Sciences. “Fenvastar Plus could help extend your supply of pyrethrins by providing residual activity to the ULV treatment, so possibly you will not have to fog as often. Or you could use Fenvastar Plus instead of natural PY, since it is registered for use in food areas,”
