FMC Professional Solutions Was Premiere Sponsor of Legislative Day

FMC has filled the role of premiere sponsor for most of the history of Legislative Day, which the National Pest Management Association launched over 30 years ago.

PHILADELPHIA – March 13-15, 2022 was a busy time in Washington, D.C., for the national pest industry thanks to strong on-site and virtual participation in 2022 Legislative Day activities. FMC Professional Solutions was proud to again be the lobbying initiative’s Premiere Sponsor, a role it has filled for most of the history of Legislative Day, which the National Pest Management Association launched over 30 years ago.
 
“The stakes have gotten increasingly higher with each passing year,” according to Dan Carrothers, commercial director for FMC North American Professional Solutions. “It is vital to all the small businesses providing pest control services across America that we come together annually on Legislative Day to encourage our elected representatives to make intelligent, well thought-out decisions based on science and proven results.”
 
The top priority of 2022 Legislative Day was to educate lawmakers and industry advocates alike about the dangers of legislation that would repeal pesticide preemption from the 46 states where it currently exists and encourage local communities to arbitrarily ban individual pesticides without considering science, economic impact, and the public health risks of unchecked, disease-carrying pests. To advance this effort, FMC sponsored the keynote presentation, which included a debate featuring White House Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri and former U.S.
 

Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL), as well as an important networking reception in the evening. Legislative Day is also a time to recognize the pest industry’s pioneers, innovators, and hard workers. Carrothers noted “One of the biggest challenges facing the pest management industry is the need for workers. By connecting veterans with potential employers and pest management companies with hard-working veterans, NPMA's PestVets helps fulfill that need. We’re committed to helping them succeed.” He honored Ted Brayton, coordinator for mobile technology for Sentricon, at Griggs & Browne Pest Control, with the FMC Legislative Day Award. In addition, FMC’s Tom Wharton honored Phillip Moore with the 2022 David Cooksey PestVet of the Year Award, a veteran who has helped strengthen the role of pest management and is recognized for his outstanding contributions to the industry and to the community he serves.
