FMC Sells Software Solutions SmartBiz Business to Marathon Data Systems

FMC Corporation this week announced plans to sell its Software Solutions Business, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., to Marathon Data Systems.

Philadelphia — FMC Corporation this week announced plans to sell its Software Solutions Business, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., to Marathon Data Systems, a leader in office management and automation software for the pest management industry based in Tinton Falls, N.J.

"FMC believes the sale of its SmartBiz software to Marathon Data System's PestPac technology will provide professional pest control operators with the best software technology to manage their businesses," said Dan Rosenbaum, director of FMC Professional Solutions.

"FMC and Marathon Data have collaborated to create a feature-rich PestPac SmartBiz edition that incorporates the best attributes of both tools," said Rosenbaum. "Together, we have developed a comprehensive conversion program to transition critical customer and business data, including contact information, scheduling and accounts receivable, customer history, and more into this new edition."

FMC's decision to divest its software systems business is well-aligned with its focused strategy in selected customers, products and markets amid the dynamic changes in the global pest marketplace, the company reports. The parties anticipate a smooth transition of the software business to Marathon Data Systems, added Rosenbaum. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

“We are proud that FMC chose PestPac Software as the upgrade to their SmartBiz product line,” said Marathon President Mike Ayars. “With the addition of the talented SmartBiz development and support team in Scottsdale, Ariz., Marathon Data Systems now has 52 employees in East and West Coast offices to serve the combined customer base for PestPac and SmartBiz. There is no interruption in service as SmartBiz customers can continue to call the Scottsdale office for sales and support. As part of the agreement, FMC negotiated an exceptional incentive for those customers that wish to upgrade to a new PestPac SmartBiz Edition of the software. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and work with the SmartBiz user community over the next few months.”
