DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — The ServiceMaster Company announced Dec. 12 that Albert Cantu is leaving the company to pursue other interests. Cantu previously held the position of president of Terminix. Most recently, he held the position of group business president, responsible for American Residential Services (ARS), ServiceMaster Clean, Merry Maids and Furniture Medic.
"Albert leaves behind a proud legacy. He played an important role in growing the business and building the Terminix brand. We are grateful for Albert's hard work, leadership and dedication over the years and wish him well as he moves on to the next chapter in his life," said Jonathan Ward, chairman and chief executive officer of ServiceMaster.
However, PCT obtained a copy of Cantu's written statement in which he disputes ServiceMaster’s claim that his leaving was voluntary. In the statement, Cantu said he disagreed with top executives’ ideas for the company for some time, adding that ServiceMaster “is not reaching its full potential pursuing the current vision and strategy.”
Cantu told PCT he'll be seeking a meeting with ServiceMaster's Board of Directors to share a different vision and strategy for ServiceMaster, which he says will “take the company in a different direction that I believe will create greater shareholder value both short and long term.”
Calls by PCT to ServiceMaster were not immediately returned.
