CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Forshaw Distribution Inc., is donating products to U.S. troops serving in Iraq as well as those involved in Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts.

Forshaw teamed with Streamlight to provide 48 Green Trident headlamps to L Troop of the 278th Regimental Combat Team (RCT) of the Tennessee Army National Guard, which is stationed in Iraq.

The idea to provide all the troops in this regiment with the lights was spearheaded by Gary Potts, whose son, Shannon Potts, is a member of the L Troop. Shannon took a headlamp to Iraq, which turned out to be a hit among his fellow soldiers, who inquired how they too could get these headlamps.

Shannon then relayed this request to his dad, who approached Tom Forshaw III, about the prospects of donating these headlamps. Forshaw III enthusiastically agreed and then worked with Streamlight to choose the correct headlamps and have them shipped to Iraq. Streamlight suggested that the Green Trident headlamps would work best because they use 3 LED bulbs, two white and one green as well as a super bright white xenon bulb. The green light was recommended because it does not interfere with the soldiers’ night vision.

Since arriving in Iraq, the lights have been used in any capacity were light is limited, including nighttime travel and reading maps.

KATRINA DONATIONS. In addition, Forshaw announced it has donated several hundred Dynamo AM/FM Flashlight-Radios with built in generator cranks to the American Red Cross to be used for Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts

Forshaw says it is planning future Katrina relief efforts based on the areas of most critical need. These may include rodent control or mosquito abatement and possibly mold.
