Video: PCT, Syngenta Recognize Tom Fortson with Crown Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award

Fortson, longtime president of Terminix Service, Columbia, S.C., was presented by PCT and Syngenta with the third-ever Crown Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award, at NPMA PestWorld 2016 in Seattle.


SEATTLE — Tom Fortson, longtime president of Terminix Service, Columbia, S.C., was presented by PCT and Syngenta with the third-ever Crown Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award, at NPMA PestWorld 2016 in Seattle.

Fortson joined Terminix Service in 1963 in an entry-level position but during the past 53 years he held virtually every position possible in the company. Today, Terminix Service operates 54 branches in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.

In addition to his role at Terminix Service, Fortson has been an active NPMA member, particularly with the Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), the investor-driven arm of NPMA that markets the value of professional pest control to consumers. He has been PPMA’s longtime chairman.

Fortson was voted as the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by previous Leadership award recipients. To qualify for considerations, candidates needed to: (1) Be a member of the Leadership Class of 1989-2006; (2) Have a minimum of 25 years of industry experience; and (3) Be engaged in various public service initiatives in their local community.

Fortson becomes the third winner of this award, joining the first two recipients: Norman Goldenberg (2014). and Norman Cooper (2015). 

Three other industry professionals tallied significant votes and were recognized as finalists for the award: Austin Frishman, AMF Pest Management Services; Victor Hammel, Rentokil Steritech; and Harvey Massey, Massey Services.
