Weber received a unanimous nod by the FPMA Executive and EVP Search Committees, and received Board approval. Weber currently serves as FPMA’s executive and communications director, and editor of PCO magazine. She was selected from a pool of 85 applicants.
According to EVP Search Committee Chair Roger Lewis, “We had many qualified applicants, narrowed the field to 13 for pre-screening phone interviews, and interviewed eight talented individuals from across the country. It was a tough selection, and Karen earned the highest marks for experience and enthusiasm. We’re excited to move ahead with Karen running our headquarters in Orlando and growing the Association in membership, programs and services.”
Weber’s experience includes nearly 20 years in national and state association communications, membership and management. Before joining FPMA, she worked for two years as the associate executive vice president and communications director for the Professional Lawn Care Association of America, Marietta, Ga. (now a part of the Professional Landcare Network [PLANET]).
Her first association experience came as publications director for the National Asbestos Council in Atlanta, Ga., where she managed a publications department and edited a professional journal for four years.
Weber is a graduate of the University of Georgia’s School of Journalism in Athens, Ga., and the Defense Information School. She served as an Army journalist for five years and traveled extensively throughout Europe.
The Columbus, Ga., native currently resides in Leesburg, Fla., and is engaged to be married in October 2005 to Marc A. Barnett.
