During carefully coordinated emergency meetings both the Sarasota County Commission and Sarasota City Commission passed fertilizer ordinances which accept the Florida Green Industries Best Management Practices (FGIBMPs). FPMA executive vice president, Matthew B. Dempsey, testified to the Sarasota City Commission in addition to participating in the county commission’s deliberations this morning.
The ordinances specifically incorporate the application of the FGIBMPs into their requirements. Under both ordinances requirements mandate that lawn care professionals follow the FGIBMPs
Erica Santella, of Tru-Green Landcare and David Pomfret of Fahey Pest Management, Inc. attended the meetings on behalf of the industry to individually address city and county officials.
FPMA also recently celebrated the initiation of state rule-making which adopts and incorporates by reference the FGIBMPs into rule.
FPMA continues to work on the promotion and development of the FGIBMPs by city and county governments throughout Fla.
