Garon Fyffe, age 76, died of cancer on June 25. He was a naturalist and entrepreneur who along with wife Jerilyn owned and operated ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention.
Prior to launching ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention, Fyffee was a curator at River Trail Nature Center in Northbrook, where he hosted the maple syrup festival, and led interpretative nature walks through the woods. He was able to identify every native plant and fungi, including his favorites; bloodroot, American ginseng, wild ginger, ephemeral wildflowers, and morel mushrooms.
Upon his retirement, his daughter, Rebecca Fyfee, took the reins of operated ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention. Many who worked in his employ became lifelong friends.
Garon is survived by his daughter Rebecca Fyffe; son-in-law Vito Brancato; granddaughter Prairie Celeste Brancato; and the entire ABC Humane Wildlife family.
A memorial celebration of Garon Fyffe’s life will be held at Feast & Imbibe, 1601 Payne Street #C, Evanston, IL 60201 on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Doors open at 2:00 p.m. and the service will take place at 2:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
