According to the latest Lundberg Survey, The national average for gasoline dropped 1.33 cents in the past two weeks. Gas prices have dropped more than 38 cents since reaching near 4 dollars in early May.
“Further dramatic drops probably aren’t in the cards,” publisher Trilby Lundberg said.
Mid-grades average fell two cents to $3.76 a gallon, while premium’s rose 8 cents to $3.98, according to surveys taken at 2,500 stations on Friday.
Although the United States is in the middle of peak demand season, the demand is weak. Lundberg stated “As a result of the economy, with fewer people taking driving vacations and the unemployed having no jobs to drive to and from each day, the demand for gas has decreased.”
The Lundberg survey calculates average price at thousands of stations across the country.
Highest gas prices found in the latest survey was in Chicago, at $4.03 a gallon. The lowest was in Phoenix at $3.30. Prices in other cities include: Boston- $3.72, Philadelphia- $3.66, Atlanta- $3.58, Memphis- $3.42, St. Louis- $3.57, Denver-$3.42 and San Diego-$3.72.
