Georgia Ag Commissioner Says Termite Danger Increased

ATLANTA - Georgia's agriculture commmisioner says homes in areas struck by heavy rains last month are vulnerable to another threat even if they weren't damaged by the storms.

Commissioner Tommy Irvin says the rains may have washed away some chemical treatment for termites, leaving houses more likely to be attacked by the tiny insects.

Irvin says if soil has been shifted away from a foundation, termite retreatment may be necessary.

Irvin says retreatment may also be needed if the rains caused movement of attached slabs such as patios, porches, driveways and sidewalks or of a foundation.
